OTS MEETING: YOUR VOICE MATTERS
The next OTS educational meeting will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, starting at 7pm CST. This meeting will be held on the Zoom videoconference system. The topic of this meeting is Your Voice Matters, and the speaker is Mr. Ira Cooperman, a Vice President for TRIO, Transplant Recipients International Organization, a national non-profit organization for transplant recipients and their families. Mr. Cooperman will talk about the work of TRIO to speak for the voice of the transplant patient. He will also discuss how every transplant patient can use their voice to create success and make a difference for transplant recipients and their families.
Ira Copperman will discuss how grassroots campaigns have been used to improve the support for the recipients and families of organ donation and transplantation. Currently, Ira serves as Vice-President for TRIO, Transplant Recipients International Organization, and is chair of the Public Policy Committee. TRIO has been in the public space for more than 30 years, providing
a voice to the needs of transplant recipients and their families and friends.
On a personal basis, Ira has been a volunteer on behalf of organ donation and transplantation for more than 25 years, since his spouse received a simultaneous kidney/pancreas transplant
in June 1999.
For the past several years, TRIO has been a part of several campaigns speaking for the patient voice in our community. Ira will talk about TRIO’s role in these campaigns and how the patient voice created success for recipients and their families.
These are the 3 campaigns that Ira will discuss:
· HONOR THE GIFT 1 – Elimination of 36-month kidney immunosuppression coverage.
· HONOR THE GIFT 2 – Restoration of non-invasive blood testing for surveillance monitoring.
· PART D PRESCRIPTION DRUGS – Guarantee for the provision for stable prescription drug regimens for the 6 protected classes.
This OTS meeting is free and is open to the public. The Zoom login information will be sent by email the day before the meeting.
This is an important topic to start 2025, and we hope that you will plan to join this meeting on Friday, January 3, 2025.
