The First Successful 3D Mini Human Heart
Organ Transplant Support, Inc. is excited to announce that Steven Morris, the CEO of BIOLIFE4D, will speak at the meeting on Friday, March 6, at 7pm. BIOLIFE4D is a biotech company with headquarters in Lincolnshire, IL, with a mission to “Build a Heart. Save a life.”
According to the BIOLIFE4D website, “BIOLFIE4D is committed to perfecting the technology to make viable organ replacement a safe, accessible and affordable reality. With BIOLIFE4D, a patient-specific, fully functioning heart will be created through 3D bioprinting and the patient’s own cells, eliminating the challenges of organ rejection and long donor waiting lists that plague existing organ transplant methods. “
In September, 2019, BIOLIFE4D announced that they had successfully bioprinted a mini human heart. The tiny heart has the same structure as a fully-sized heart, and this is an important milestone in the push to create an artificial heart viable for transplant.
