All transplant families are invited to the OTS meeting that will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019, from 7-9PM. We are very fortunate to have two different presentations for this meeting. Our first speaker will be Margaret Pearson, the Regional Coordinator for the State of Illinois Office of Organ & Tissue Donation. Margaret will talk about the National Donor Sabbath week-end in November, and the events planned to bring awareness to the need for organ donors.
The next speakers for this meeting will be a presentation by three pharmacists about medications for transplant patients. The speakers for this meeting will be Dr. Kyle Lang, Dr. Clare Kane and Dr. Katie Cunningham, clinical pharmacists at the Kovler Transplantation Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
At this meeting the pharmacists will talk about the importance of the flu vaccine for transplant patients, the drug supply of some transplant medications,, and the differences of both generic and brand name meds. They will also give us helpful information on what foods we should avoid when taking immunosuppressant meds. This meeting is a chance for you to ask questions about transplant medications, and all three pharmacists encourage you to come to this meeting with questions.
All pre and post transplant patients are invited to this free meeting. See you at this important meeting on Friday, November 1!
