The OTS meeting on Friday, May 4, 2018 will feature a presentation about dental care for organ transplant patients. Our speaker for this meeting will be Dr. Martin Hogan. Dr. Hogan is the Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery; and the director of the Dental General Practice Residency Program at Loyola University Medical Center. His practice is dedicated to caring for patients of all ages, with special attention to those medically and mentally compromised patients who require their dental treatment to be completed in the hospital setting.
This talk will focus on multi-disciplinary planning and dental care of patients who are either preparing for an upcoming organ transplant, just received an organ transplant or who have already received an organ transplant in the past. We will focus on the oral cavity, specifically, and guidelines that patients can utilize to help lead them through this process and their care.
Dr. Hogan will also discuss various types of organ transplants including heart, kidney, liver, lung and pancreas to name some; and some of the specific oral health concerns to address related to each of these. A very open and honest question and answer period is encouraged throughout the talk.
The OTS meeting will be held at the Good Samaritan Health & Wellness Center, at 3551 Highland Avenue in Downers Grove. This meeting is free and is open to the public.
